Most of their studies take place on the Harvard Business School Campus,
but they also conduct a few on-line studies that can be taken from any
computer with an internet connection. For most studies conducted at HBS,
payments range from $15 to $40, with an average of $20-$25.
Minimum payment of $10 if you sign

Participation
in any of the studies is completely voluntary, and you may drop out of
them at any time. These studies all comply with university and U.S.
government guidelines for the protection of human subjects and of your
online privacy. Some are paid studies, some are
not. |
UCSD Attention Lab
University of California, San
Diego Attention and Perception Lab
Because of
the extended nature of these studies, and the fact that we cannot use
incomplete data, we will pay you for a given study only if you complete
the study. The amount paid will vary, depending
on the time commitment and number of sessions, but the overall rate of pay
will be approximately $20/hour. If you do not check your
email regularly, you probably will not want to enroll in our subject
pool, because you would be likely to inadvertently miss followup
sessions, and thus fail to get paid for your time. But if you are
someone who checks email daily, this may work well for you. |

Psychology is the science of
behavior. The psychology of decision making concerns the question of
why people choose to do what they do. Why do some people choose to
marry? Why do they buy a house? Why do some people not wear seat belts?
Why do some people engage in risky, unprotected sex? Why do people
gamble? Why buy insurance? Why do some people risk their life to have
cosmetic surgery? These surveys are dedicated to the scientific study
of decision making. The science of decision making is a science about
how a rational person should choose, and an empirical study of what
choices people actually make. Researchers in behavioral decision making
study theories of how people make the choices that they do.
Understanding how people make decisions will ultimately help us advise
people to make wiser decisions.
